Driveway Concrete Sealing
Whether your driveway is gray concrete, coloured concrete, exposed aggregate concrete, stamped or stenciled, sealing after the concrete has been cleaned and every few years after is recommended as part of the maintenance routine.
Our range of sealing options
Water Based
- A water-based penetrating sealer works by penetrating deep into the concrete to form an invisible film of silicone on the internal surface of the substrate.
- Once sealed the surface will repel water and will be easier to keep clean
- Natural look - it will provide invisible protection without changing the appearance of the surface.
- A water based sealer is a better choice where good traction is important. it does not leave a glossy finish and will not contribute to the slipperiness of the concrete surface.
- The sealing process using this product is completed in the same day
Solvent Based
- Our solvent based sealer has been developed from a selected blend of resins to provide a durable, non-yellowing, protective coating
- Decorative 'wet look' finish
- Sealer dries to a clear, hard, water repellent non-yellowing film, which has excellent resistance to most contaminants, preventing staining and dirt impregnation. the sealer enhances the oxide colours and exposed stones used in the various types of cement based paving.
- Not suitable for areas that are steep as it can become slippery
- This product is recommended to be reapplied every 2 years or so depending on conditions and use.
- The process generally requires 2 days to complete
Coloured Sealer
- A tint is added to the sealer to give a coloured finish
- Can be applied to a range of surfaces - generally used for stamped, stenciled or plain gray concrete
- It will revitalise tired stamped and stenciled concrete areas - bringing them back to life
- Decorative 'wet look' finish
- This product is recommended to be reapplied every 2 years or so depending on conditions and use.
- The process generally requires 2 days to complete
Why seal your concrete driveway or path?
Sealing a concrete driveway or path can be compared to waxing your car or wearing sunscreen.
A sealer will improve your driveway's appearance, keep uv rays from causing it to fade, and protect it from stains. Applying concrete sealer to a driveway or path will also keep water from sinking in, and and can help to prevent concrete from cracking or buckling as weather conditions change.
Your driveway will be subjected to many things in the great outdoors that can leave unsightly stains on the surface – leaves, dirt, fertiliser, pet urine, oil, tire tracks and much more. Sealing your driveway will prevent dirt and liquids from penetrating the surface of the concrete and leaving unsightly stains.
Not only will a professionally applied sealer increase the longevity of the concrete it also adds value to your home by reducing spalling, flaking and cracking, improving your driveway's appearance and your home's curb appeal.
* Please note if your driveway or concrete area has already been sealed, the same product will need to be applied to the surface. If you are not sure what type of concrete sealer has been used previously, we can inspect the surface and let you know what type of sealer it is and what the options are.
Concrete Cleaning and Sealing
THE Concrete Sealing PROCESS
STEP ONE
High pressure cleaning of the concrete area which is to be sealed is an important first step to ensure your newly sealed driveway looks fresh and clean. We then allow the driveway to dry before applying the sealer.
STEP TWO
The area is taped off to ensure it is kept clear and free from cars etc, and the first coat of sealer is applied.
STEP THREE
Allow the first coat of sealant to dry.
STEP FOUR
Apply a second coat of sealer to the concrete. The area will need to remain free from cars, furniture, pots and foot traffic for 48 hours so it does not get marked or damaged. The newly sealed area can then be driven on, but not parked on for 7 days to ensure the concrete sealer is thoroughly absorbed and completely dry..
